Company description::
Short of a job offer – and even with one – the potentially most valuable possession for the graduating college senior is a personal e-mail account for life from Graduate Mail. This service that launched April 30 is also the grad’s gift that keeps on giving to their alumni association.

With just three pieces of information (first, middle and last name) Graduate Mail’s special algorithm creates a selection of personalized e-mail addresses from which the success-oriented senior can choose one or more. With these, valuable contacts and close friends can always contact grads regardless of how many colleges, jobs or “downtimes” follow “Pomp and Circumstance.” Graduate Mail’s revenue share program enables direct painless contributions from service fees to grads’ alumni associations.

Students operate in an e-mail-centric college world, so they know the value of having one account that is the consistent central link to everything they do year after year. As they prepare to graduate, leave behind classmates and potential business contacts and join the chaotic world of job hunting, seniors will similarly appreciate having one account for their future life where they can always be reached.

There are other e-mail options, but Graduate Mail offers significant benefits for grads who are serious about their future. First, the company does all the work of finding an appropriate e-mail address and taking care of all of the mechanics of setting up a POP3 account and getting the domain name registered, while other services leave subscribers to their own devices. Users receive tips on how to manage their accounts so these remain the central point of contact as they change living and work places.

The Graduate Mail staff is fanatical about privacy and totally despises spam, so users’ accounts are protected with elaborate technology, and advertising is strictly verboten. Besides these privacy safeguards, the company offers 20MG of storage space plus other initial and planned services that will cater to the needs of seniors and recent grads as they mature through their working lives.

A major unique value both grads and their alumni associations receive is a revenue sharing arrangement the company will set up so a portion of the monthly fees that students pay will go to their respective alumni groups. This makes donating painless for grads, particularly in those early days before their first big job. And the associations have to do little more than collect the payments, plus they get the PR advantage of being able to solicit funds while simultaneous advancing a serious benefit for students.

Graduate Mail’s service is accessible at their Web site - www.graduatemail.com. The service pricing starts at $3.95/month or $35 per year for one e-mail address, and students can get up to 10 addresses. With the full complement of addresses, grads can keep one for business correspondence, and have the others for less serious uses. While targeted to graduating seniors, both current students and alumni can also subscribe. Alumni associations just need to complete a basic form from Graduate Mail and payments will be directed to them once students begin signing up for the service.
